Rant meme

I want to rant. To anyone who is particularly interested in this . . .

Give me a topic and/or a pet peeve of yours that you wish to see me rant about. I will get back to you on it then rant for an entire post's worth (cannot say they will all be lengthy) afterward, specifically about it. But, please, do not let it be either about politics or Yaoi/Yuri things in general, though; I am terrible at keeping unbiased at these.

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 02:38 am (UTC)

It drives me up a wall. Feel free to rant on it.

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 02:40 am (UTC)

Wow, now that was a quick response.

I will get you back on this particular peeve in a seperate post. Just keep an eye on my journal for a few days and you will see it up eventually.

*is sheepish* Was this from that time at inter_clan, where I got repetitive on the case of the Uchiha and Hyuuga?

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 02:42 am (UTC)

:D I just happened to check my flist at the right time.

Ah, no. That wasnt a problem at all. I mean when people say the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over ........UGH.

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 02:44 am (UTC)

. . . That certainly /is/ annoying. I can sympathize here.

Shall I rant about it in general? Or will it be repetition about a certain thing over and over?

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 02:46 am (UTC)

Generally is fine.

It drives me up a wall, like I said. My friend uses it to joke around, so he pokes and pokes and keeps at it until it gets to my snapping point where I turn around and threaten to break his finger off or just hit him. o_o And Im usually a very easy-going person.

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 02:51 am (UTC)

Hm, I can see what you mean when you say it gets annoying. Do not fear though, I shall rant about that particular subject soon enough. Be warned though, there may be a little swearing involved. :/

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 03:00 am (UTC)

Swearing's fine. :3

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 02:40 am (UTC)

Perfect timing! You could rant about the overuse of stupid metaphors in Naruto Fan Fiction! My all time favorite is "Naruto's Happy Mask". Blah. I hate that one.

I hope you can use it, if not, I'm chock full of angry goodness!

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 02:42 am (UTC)

Interesting rant. I will definitely get back on you for this one -- in a seperate post, though. It would simply get too long here.

Oh, and do you have any links to fan fictions that over-use these metaphors?

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 02:46 am (UTC)

Mask Conveniently enough, it's called "Mask"

You can post it whenever, I'm in no rush, my hatred for that particular metaphor will never grow stale :)

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 02:49 am (UTC)

Funnily enough, but I was actually reading your latest post on your journal before I got the email alert.

And I took a peek at that fan fiction. UGH. I see what you mean about those icky metaphors -- they really can become abused within fan fiction easily.

I shall get around to typing your rant out as soon as possible.

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 02:56 am (UTC)

Hmmm, that is pretty funny. I just checked my Friends page on a whim, I've been checking out Naruto Anime Music Vids for the last hour or so and just checked it and there it was, your offer for free rants. I had to take it, it was like fate! I know if I rant on that stupid crap, it'll be on your Friends page, everyday for the next year.

I've seen that particular metaphor about 1,000 times digging though that sledge posted daily on FF.net :(

I am excited about your rant, but please, don't rush yourself on my account :)

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 03:08 am (UTC)

Please rant to me about the quality of SasuHina stories lately. This can be a relatively short rant; whatever you write shall be loved. ♥

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 03:13 am (UTC)

This one is definitely one I want to rant about. Thank you for mentioning it. I am betting this one might be lengthy as well.

Would you like it to cover all the bad cliches and head-banging aspects of SasuHina's relationship and/or the bastardization of their characters within the stories? Or just some of the reeeally annoying ones?

Oh, and do you have links to any? I hardly drop by to look in on the quality of fic in the Pit of Voles nowadays.

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 03:23 am (UTC)

And I'll help you rant. I'm sick of them, Kagura!

How about the former? I'm really raring to go on this one.

As for links...I shall list all the bad ones I skimmed through (or simply read the summaries):

Hidden Love
What Roses Really Smell Like
A possibility of Sasuke and Hinata falling in love
Loveless Infatuation (This one was just written by a horrid writer who changed her name. I can't understand why she's so popular with SasuHina fans. Perhaps it's because she updated quickly.)
All's Fair In Love And War (This is written by the writer who is renowned as the girl who gets more flames than reviews. =/)

And that's all for now. Today, however...I did read a well-written SasuHina fic. It's about time, too. Roses too Red, Violets so Blue is what it is called. Tell me what you think of all these.

(And please, for the sake of your intelligence, do not read the bad fics thoroughly. Skimming them should suffice. ^^)

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 03:32 am (UTC)

Please do, I feel the same. This poor pairing's fan fictions are beginning to become almost(?) as bad as the ItaHina, and GaaHina fan fictions that are sprouting out like weeds nowadays.

Alright then. The former one it is. This rant looks quite fun to do as well. And once/if you read it after completion, please make sure to point out if I missed/left anything out as well. It shall help, hopefully.

. . . Just looking at those titles is making me feel a little queasy. But I shall definitely try my best to skim through them without bleaching my eyes out!

Hm, *adds good!fic for later read* thank you for this rec, Ladii. I shall give you an opinion of what I think of it after I finish reading it. :)

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 11:25 pm (UTC)

To tell you the truth, I don't like GaaHina. I've never read a good one. Or maybe it's just because I seem to like Gaara with blondes, like Ino and Temari.

Will do. I can't wait to see the results of your rant.

I was talking to Julie about Loveless Infatuation. I hate fics that sound much too poetic for everyone's liking. It wouldn't make any sense if said title had no relation to the actual fic, either. Then again, these are the type of people we're dealing with.

I thought I knew her from somewhere. She has an LJ here, and I've talked to her at one point or another. Anyway, tell me what you thought of it. Although I prefer multi-chaptered fics, I've grown to appreciate one-shots. Hers was short and sweet, but still rather complex and poetic at the same time. :)

Thu, Apr. 20th, 2006 11:59 am (UTC)

GaaHina is almost impossible crack, but it does have some basis if done right. And I have to write it on request now.

*is working on it* :)

That is sadly true. Fancy, verbose names are silly, and worth improper scorn. I can understand if the title was actually a metaphor of the story, but even metaphors can be done poorly. Looking through that fic, I cannot understand why it would be called 'Loveless Infatuation'. Heck, that title even contradicts itself. (Loveless=No love; Infatuation=Obsessive, romantic love.)

As for Roses Too Red, Violets so Blue, I thought that was a lovely read. (And I have found a little spark of faith within the abhorring rubbish in the Pit of Voles.) This author has a variety of interesting words, and uses them well, I noticed it within this fic. Smooth pacing as well. I only had a problem with her constant use of one-word sentences (it got redundant), but you are correct, this is a well-deserving read.

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 07:06 am (UTC)

My apologies for butting in, but I really, could not help myself. I was skimming down the comments when your All's Fair in Love and War caught my eye. My heart literally stopped, although I kicked myself after reading your comment thoroughly.

I used to have a Ruroken Fic entitled All's Fair In Love and War. I only have myself to blame for almost having a heart attack - that's what I get for skimming.

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 07:19 am (UTC)

No need for an apology. Guessing from your understandable reaction, I suppose that fic really is /bad/.

/I used to have a Ruroken Fic entitled All's Fair In Love and War./

Hm, this certainly is ironic.

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 11:00 pm (UTC)

No problem. *laughs* I'm sorry to have given you such a shock, Jacq.

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 03:18 am (UTC)

How about the idea that all of team seven don't love and need each other.

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 03:22 am (UTC)

*is guilty* I haven't replied to your journal in a while, have I? Sorry about that, I was feeling rather lazy/tired/whatever today. Not to mention sane_sakusasu, I kept telling myself to reply, but I kept putting it off. v.v

As for your rant -- this one is also a very good rant to er, rant about. Although your Naruto rants practically kill me (in a good way) --especially Sasuke, and Team 7, and their relationships together -- I will do my best on this one. *_*

Just keep an eye on this journal for the next few days and I will finish it and post it up for you either after or before the others.

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 03:28 am (UTC)

I don't mind you replying or not, though you're probably the best reviewer ever. XD

Far as I can tell, there can never be enough team seven need each other rants.

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 03:36 am (UTC)

I will get around to actually giving you a comment for once on your journal afterward. And thank you, I am flattered that you consider me a good reviewer. ;)

/Far as I can tell, there can never be enough team seven need each other rants./

True, too true. Sakura, Naruto and Sasuke have (arguably) the most complex relationship together in this entire series, and to see others mock it or put it down is simply idiotic. Upon completion of this rant, please make sure to give me some concrit or point out the parts I missed out, White Rain. *_*

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 03:39 am (UTC)

Upon completion of this rant, please make sure to give me some concrit or point out the parts I missed out, White Rain. *_*

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 07:08 am (UTC)

That Ino is just a dumb blonde. Please, please, make a rant about this one, I beg you! I endear myself to you to make a rant about this, because I don't think that Ino is just another dumb blonde.

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 07:14 am (UTC)

I will definitely get on this one. I hate-hate-hate this stereotype on her, and writing this rant out will be a lovely, little rebuttal to all those silly Ino-haters.

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 03:46 pm (UTC)

How about the phrase "Cute as fuck". Or Ino is a slut.

Thu, Apr. 20th, 2006 09:43 am (UTC)

Do you want me to write them both? Or simply one of them?

But they are both excellent choices.

Tue, Apr. 18th, 2006 06:54 pm (UTC)

Ahoy there. If you have time, perhaps on instant love in fics?

Hinata already likes Naruto, Naruto decides he likes her, instant perfect love.

Sakura already likes Sasuke, Sasuke decides he likes her, instant perfect love.

Naruto is crying, Sasuke cheers him up, the next day Naruto's butt hurts and he is somehow carrying Sasuke's child. Instant perfect love.

And so on. Although, it seems you already have a lot to do, yeah? So if you decide to, I'll understand if it takes a while :)

Thu, Apr. 20th, 2006 09:42 am (UTC)

Oh, yes, definitely. This topic is a perfect rant that I have seen happen too often within fan fictions. *adds to list*

Expect to see it sooner or later, DarkwindKaze. I cannot claim it will be done tomorrow, but it will see the light of day for your enjoyment (hopefully) on my journal when I finish.

Thu, Apr. 20th, 2006 04:03 pm (UTC)

Ah, thank you. Whenever it is done, I look forward to it, as I do all of your rantings.

psyched_kagura: Re: Hi, friending you because you have great taste, : D

Hello! I have also seen you around White Rain's journal and several other communities. Needless to say, you appear to be a very interesting person with your commentary, and I gladly friend you back.

A rant about the SasuNaru fandom? It will be my pleasure to write this one out. I must warn you though that I am no prolific/speedy rant-maker, but I sincerely promise to finish this in a few days.
